Astron Medtech proudly announces the successful completion of the first TendMIN minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair in the United States at New England Baptist Surgery Center, a prestigious teaching facility affiliated with Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. The groundbreaking procedure was performed by Dr. Kurt Hofmann, a renowned foot and ankle surgeon who has closely collaborated with Astron Medtech over the past two years. “This is a major breakthrough in soft tissue and tendon repair—it provides accurate visualization through a less invasive approach without compromising the strength of the repair. ” said Dr. Hofmann.
The TendMIN device represents a significant leap forward in tendon and ligament repair, offering a minimally invasive solution that reduces incision size to ~1cm-, lowers the risk of infection, and continues to provide robust mechanical strength to the repair.
"We are thrilled to see TendMIN make its U.S. debut under the skilled hands of Dr. Hofmann," said Ben Huang, CEO of Astron Medtech. "This marks an important milestone in our mission to advance orthopedic care by delivering cutting-edge solutions that enhance both patient safety and clinical efficiency."
The successful procedure paves the way for further adoption of the TendMIN device, as Astron Medtech continues to expand its footprint in the U.S. market with a focus on improving patient outcomes in soft tissue repair.
